Our History
We stand behind our reputation and will continue to serve our community with the values instilled by our funeral directors.
One of ten children, Charles J. O’Shea, Jr. grew up above his father’s funeral home in Queens, NY. As a young man, a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, he proudly served his country in the Korean War.
After completing his military service, he returned to New York and went to work for several different funeral homes in the area.
With an appreciation for and passion for caring for families at their greatest time of need, he opened his own funeral home in East Meadow, NY in 1963. He developed deep roots in the community – raising 6 children with his wife Eugenia and building their family business. His personal connection to the families he served as well as his dedication and professionalism earned him the trust & respect of all.
Recognizing the demand for quality funeral service across the community, Charles opened his second funeral home in Wantagh in 1979 to accommodate his friends and neighbors.
With the desire to maintain a quality, family-owned business, Charles joined Louis Guerra, Louis Bruno and James Bruno in the daily operations of the R.C. Albrecht Funeral Home in East Islip and, in 2007, the funeral home became the Albrecht, Bruno & O'Shea Funeral Home. Offering high quality service and expertise in caring, the partnership ensured the funeral homes would remain in the O’Shea family and that the community would continue to get the service they need and deserve.
After the passing of Charles in 2020, the O’Shea Funeral Homes remain a family business with Lou, Lou and James managing the day-to-day operations and continuing exceptional service to the community.
For more than 50 years, the caring and trusting staff of Charles O’Shea Funeral Homes have provided guidance to families in their greatest time of need.
