Eric, You had an incredible impact on so many lives; you can't even imagine. Only God knows the reason you were called to heaven (way too soon), but I know you will be watching over everyone. We will miss you and remember you always and forever. Keep on rockin'.

God bless and keep this man close at hand. Whatever the reason he was called from this life- surely there is a grand plan. My heart truly goes out to his family for their loss and I pray that they will find the strength and solace in the wonderful memories of their devoted husband and father to carry them through this difficult time. God Bless you Eric...look upon your family from above, Keep them close...keep them safe.

Mr. Helming you will be sorely missed. You were a great teacher and mentor to my son. My heart breaks for your family. Rest in peace and jam on.

My daughter, Jacqueline Lang, graduated from EMHS in 2009. She had a school friend, Kayla, who lived near Mr. Helming. I remember Jackie and Kayla walking by Mr. Helming's house and seeing him working in the yard with his wife and children. From reading this memorial I now see that Mr. Helming was born one day after I was (although he was born in Iowa, and I was born in New York, NY), and his career as a high school social studies teacher was much longer than mine).
My sincere condolences to his wife and children.

It was impossible to frown around Mr. Helming. When I was distressed or having a bad day, I would shoot over to his class and enjoy a gut-busting impression or outrageous story. I didn't even have him as a teacher. His laugh and wit were so inviting. He was the life of EMHS. I'll never forget the guy until the day I die and see him again. We've lost an amazing father, husband, son, and teacher. We've lost an amazing human being. But his spirit and memories will keep us going. God be with his loved ones.

Eric - sometimes the provocateur we've needed to inspire us, blended with a unique sense of humor. No doubt his antics and wisdom are permanently imprinted in the memories of the lives he's touched. I'm grateful for the memories.
