Our family's first encounter with Steve is when he was a teen zooming up 202 street on his motorcycle. My father used to chase him up up the block because he kept "waking up the baby" with the motorcycle. As time went on, and Steve had kids of his own, the motorcycle turned into an ATV pulling a line of kids behind him on their sleds in the snow. He took me on many fishing trips and on my first camping trip along with all of the neighborhood kids. One Halloween, he and my father helped to settle the score between my brother and a bunch of punks who attacked him and his girlfriend while they masqueraded as Raggedy Anne and Andy. When our pool filter caused an electrical fire in our backyard on Christmas Eve, Steve was there before the firemen. Although he loved to portray himself as a tough guy, he really did have a heart of gold and was always ready to help.
We are shocked and saddened that you have left us, and although you often joked about being born with weights on your ankles, we know that you are up there, still ready to help in any way you can.

Whenever I was in Steve's company, we always laughed. He always had that Yancofski gleam in his eyes that let you know a million things were running through his mind but he usually let it stay there. I was always amazed at the talent he had for fixing things, building things and making things beautiful again. He was a tough guy, he was a soft guy, he was a good guy! I will always remember him that way! May God rest his soul and may He send Angels to help all of his family and friends during this very sad and tragic time.
