I was Mike Verdi's student teacher 14 years ago. Mike taught me the most important thing to teach kids was how to be more productive members of their community. In this life nobody is irreplaceable, except Mike Verdi!! His impact on kids transcends time!! RIP my friend, my mentor, and my idol.

Our three girls have had the pleasure of knowing Coach Verdi through Verdi Wednesday’s. He was so nice to them and provided so much fun while teaching them at the same time. Our girls felt so comfortable around him because he was so easy to approach and always had a big smile.
Our girls are very sad to say the least. They are having a hard time processing this.
We can’t even imagine what you all are going thru...especially the kids.
We have you all in our prayers and send you our deepest condolences,

To the Verdi Family: All 3 of my kids were lucky enough to learn about what a good human is by knowing Mr. Verdi. He was my son's HS English teacher and my girls' softball coach. He wrote at least one of my kid's college recommendations (I can only imagine how many of those he wrote every year!) and my kids will tell you that I ALWAYS said how cool it was to see a guy doing exactly what he was put on this earth to do. He was so passionate about those kids, involved in school activities, class advisor, Spirit Night, you name it. He was SO relatable and genuine; it was a pleasure to watch him in action, and he truly enriched their lives. With his passing the Division Avenue HS community suffered a huge loss, and of course your family's loss is unimaginable. I know that his gift to our children probably came at a cost to you in time lost at home. Your sacrifice has not gone unnoticed; my family and our community are forever grateful. A bright light has been extinguished, but I hope you can eventually take comfort in knowing that it will shine on through the lives of all he touched. Please know that so many grieve with you, and Levittown hearts are heavy this week. With much love, the Roseval Family.

Michael Verdi was an amazing person.. I had the pleasure of teaching with him in his classroom many times over the years. He had a presence that was not like any other, and the students respected him in the classroom, in the hallways, and wherever he was at DAHS.
This is a life too short... I wish his family the joy of his memories, and the knowledge that he was loved by hundreds of people for the man that he was. Bless him, his wife, children and family.

Mr. Verdi was the kind of teacher, we as parents wished for our children. He was not only a great teacher in the classroom, but more importantly, outside of the classroom. He had a way to find the talents hidden behind the masks of teenagers and convince them to try new things. He was a friend when the kids needed him most and a mentor for so many. I personally know how important he was to both of my sons. He is the first teacher they listed as a reference and he wrote both of their letters of recommendation for college. He will forever be in their hearts and the #1 reason why they will always have fond memories of Division Avenue H.S. I hope that one day his family finds comfort in knowing how important their Dad was to so many. With warmest condolences, the Viola Family.

Mr. Verdi,
You have mentored countless students over the years, but what you did for my children is immeasurable. You believed in their talents and pushed them to be their best. Mr. Verdi asked my son Justin, class of 2013, to draw a picture on one of the cabinet doors in his classroom. I believe the picture is still there today. Mr. Verdi also pushed my daughter Michelle, class of 2010, to write in the school paper and after months(probably years) of asking her she finally was able to come out of her shell and publish a piece in the school paper. Now she is on her way to become an English Teacher herself. God bless your family and may you Rest In Peace. Thank you, Trisha Wiertz
