Theresa B. Duenzl passed away on April 25, 2020 at Park Avenue Rehabilitation Center in Long Beach, NY. Born on October 4, 1928, Terry embraced her city of Manhattan, taking advantage of the museums, shows and all that her city had to offer. She loved to travel, especially to England, France and to visit family in Germany. She always traveled in style, from her first ‘sailing’ on the Cunard line to a flight on the Concord. Terry taught her many nieces and nephews her joie de vivre: love of God, the importance of education, fantastic literature, great food, a perfect cocktail and the art of conversation. Terry was opinionated, smart and funny and could express herself in English, French and German! A strong role model, Terry graduated from St. Joseph’s College for Women in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and achieved a Master’s of Arts Degree from New York University in 1965. She spent her career at The New Yorker Magazine, where she met her employer and friend, Peter Fleishman, Founder and Publisher of the New Yorker Magazine. Terry retired as the Administrative Assistant to the Publisher. Terry was a Member at Large of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America and a Life Patron member of the American Needlepoint Guild, Inc. She continually challenged herself with new stitching techniques and made many friends along the way. Terry was an active member of her Roman Catholic Church Parishes on Long Island, including St. Barnabus in Bellmore, St. Mary of the Isle Roman Catholic Church in Long Beach and St. Raphael in East Meadow. She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolph and Anne Duenzl, her sister, Marijane Stroschein and her brothers, John Duenzl and Rudolph Duenzl. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass and Roman Catholic Burial will be planned at a future date.
