Obituary

In Loving Memory of Frank Joseph LaBarca Frank LaBarca was 77 years young when he passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY, after a prolonged courageous battle with cancer. He helped advance scientific research by willingly participating in several clinical trials. In turn, this has benefited other cancer survivors. He passed away on August 11, 2020, surrounded by his loved ones and family; friends will deeply miss him and all those whose lives he touched. Frank Joseph LaBarca was born on September 29, 1942. He was a remarkable individual with an unwavering zest for life. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and giving spirit. He touched the hearts of many through his selfless acts of generosity and love. Frank led a life filled with purpose and achievement. After working for 26 years, he retired in 1995 from New York City Transit Authority as a Bus Operator. Frank obtained many awards for being a safe driver and many commendations. After his retirement, he continued to work as a School Bus Driver serving the children in his community. Frank was admired for his dedication, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to excellence. He loved his family immensely and his country with great pride. These were the things that were his driving force until his dying day. Frank loved the Yankees, being an avid golfer, barbequing for the family, and being Mr. Fix it at home. His enthusiasm about life was contagious and inspiring!

His faith and family were at the center of Frank Labarca’s life. He cherished his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He always was a source of strength and support with a listening ear and comforting embrace. His love knew no bounds and will forever remain a cherished memory in the hearts of his family and friends. His legacy will live in the family. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY, on September 29, 1942. He is pre-deceased by his father: Anthony LaBarca, his mother: Marie Curreri LaBarca, and his brothers, Peter and Anthony. He is survived by, and his legacy lives on in his wife, Ida LaBarca, and daughter Lisa LaBarca Neuhaus Cohn. His grandson Michael Anthony Neuhaus. His son-in-law Ira Cohn and his brother, John Labarca, and his brother-in-law's, Ronnie Basso, John Wink, and Vinny Senerchia. His sister In-law’s Joan Basso, Victoria Wink, Jennie LaBarca, and Rose Senerchia. His nephews Jack LaBarca, John Wink Jr., Christopher Wink, Vinny Senerchia Jr., And his nieces, Elizabeth LaBarca, Carolyn LeClair, Kristina Sunseri, Loren Basso, Loriann Senerchia, and Patricia Senerchia.
