Ed was a fantastic roughneck i worked with from about late 1981 through 1985. Patty and Ed stayed overnight at my apartment on the night before an Oklahoma City appointment with a doctor during Patty's first pregnancy.
i'll never forget fishing with Ed and he dragged Patty along on some fishing excursions at a lake in western Okahoma named Foss that looked like the earth at the end of the "Planet of the Apes" movie. or the beginning of "2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY". and Patty was a trooper. she never slowed Ed down as much as i did (i was carrying the beer). Ed being from New York was not a favorite of a couple of drillers he had (i was in similar circumstances with a couple of my drillers) but he outworked all the Okies and they couldn't fire him. He was as strong as a horse, and beat an a-hole ex-convict driller who everyone was afraid of but me & Ed at arm wrestling. That driller would brag about being unbeaten but i would remind him and his minions about his thrashing at the hand of Ed. the first job i worked with Ed was the best. every day or night after work we would all 4 roughnecks on the crew would cram into Ed's garage apartment he was renting from our driller and party. he introduced me to Ziggy Stardust and Diamond Dogs. i am so sad i did not find him until now, i would give plenty to talk to him again, as i know y'all would. The WORLD and us lost a lot when we lost Ed.
