Obituary Part 1

Carmela Lubeski, loving wife of Harold “Buck” Lubeski and mother of Thomas, Debra and Jennifer will be greatly missed. Camille, as she was known to most, lived each day with humor and curiosity. She was born into a big Italian family in Brooklyn in 1936. These were the days of family and friends enjoying big pasta dinners, sitting on the stoop at night, yelling out the window to someone in the neighborhood. Her mother Jean, father Mike, sister Barbara were the center of her life at this time. She loved them dearly. This upbringing focused on family and community shaped Camille’s life and was reflected in the life-long relationships she formed. Her first day at BayRidge High School was a day that put her on her life course. In homeroom that day she met Micki. The two became best friends. Micki started dating Mike. Then Mike brought Buck to meet Camille for a double date. Camille was married to Buck for 62 years. They lived a very happy life moving from Brooklyn to Merrick. Here they raised three wonderful children and enjoyed watching the family grow to 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. “Are you hungry? Did you eat?” was heard when you walked through the door. Big hugs brought a tear to her eye. She loved her family immensely and they will miss her greatly.

Obituary Part 2

Camille loved to laugh. Many called her the life of the party. The first to start dancing, the one to tell a joke. Her laugh was infectious. She also loved to comfort others, provide advice and be involved. She was a devote Catholic and an active member of our Parish. Camille was a volunteer and member of United Cerebral Palsy for over 50 years as well. Her life’s work with this charity leaves a lasting impact. Her working life included managing Dr. Singer’s office before she moved to be a Supervisor of Stores at Nassau Community Hospital. She was known as Dr. Lubeski before her son actually became Dr. Lubeski. Dr. Tom would ask… who went to medical school Mom? It always brought a smile. After retirement, Camille and Buck enjoyed traveling to Florida as snowbirds, taking cruises with friends and family, visiting casinos to try their luck and spending time with their Grandchildren. Camille also developed an interest in the stock market and would love chatting about it with her kids and Grandkids. Camille lost a her battle with cancer but she faced it bravely with the support of family and friends. She would say “Don’t let this make sick” to her care givers. Another example of her care for others before herself. Carmela, you will be missed by so many. May you rest in peace.
