When I was in junior high back in 2008 there was one day of many when students set off a strong stink bomb in the hallways. Every classroom in that hall could smell it. Boy it stunk! When I stepped out into that hallway I saw Mr. Cooley alone at the entrance of his classroom looking right at me with a sinical smirk as he bit into a hard boiled egg. I'll NEVER forget the smell and the image of him enjoying that boiled egg. I had him as a math teacher the previous year. RIP.

Otto and family. I remember being coached by Harold playing in the Little League of the Islips back in the 70’s. He was a giant in my eyes, someone I respected and never wanted to disappoint. I’ll never forget Coach Harold, such a positive influence to me. I’m sorry for your family.

My sincere sorrow for the loss of Harold. He was a wonderful man, a loving husband and father. I knew Harold for over 40 years and I could never say anything negative about him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and he always thought of others first. Ed and I often talked of what a wonderful family the Cooley's are and how they were so close. I will miss Harold for the rest of my life and I send all my thoughts and prayers to Pat and the family. May he find rest in heaven along side his Dad. May God watch over all of you and help you in your time of sorrow.
Love,
Sheila Sloup

Our deepest condolences go out to the Cooley family. Cooley came in to our lives when he & Dakota met at EI Lanes the summer of 5th grade. They became fast friends & he became an instant mentor to her. As with Dakota & countless others, you took her in your heart. You’ve made such a huge impact on so many lives. Cooley, you are truly an amazing person & were an angel here on Earth. You are going to be terribly missed. We can’t ‘Thank You’ enough for what you have taught & instilled in Dakota. She, as we all are, is heartbroken. There will never be a day that goes by that you will not be thought of fondly. May you Rest In Peace.

My heart goes out to the Cooley family at this time! The entire East Islip community has lost the purest soul to walk this earth. Cooley was a big light in my life and I’m very grateful that he took me in when I was in 4th grade to teach me how to bowl. You never failed to make anyone laugh! I miss you terribly Cooley. I’ll see you soon angel. Go watch some yankee games and go bowl up there in heaven. I love you
