When I think of Uncle John I picture him surrounded by family and always with a slight grin. It was like he knew something that none of us clued into. Loving husband to my Fairy Godmother and ETERNALLY patient father to four daughters, I think we can find comfort knowing he earned his wings a long time ago. This is temporary – we’ll see each other again. To the Kropf and extended family, we are sorry we could not be there in person. You are in our thoughts and prayers, today and always.

I recall Mr. Kropf telling me how much he liked being retired and it's great to see he was able enjoy that for 30+ years. Always remember him as being soft spoken with a calm demeanor while reading the newspaper despite all the girls running throughout the house. Certainly a role model to many and he will be missed.

I will be forever grateful for Grandpa John for loving and caring for me as he did all his grandchildren. Not having my own grandfathers in my life for long, I am incredibly lucky to have had him, and to have experienced his love and support for his family that he so generously made me a part of. So, thank you Grandpa John, I will always keep a place in my heart for you. And Grandma Lila and all the family, please know that I am so sorry for your loss. Love, Allie.

When I first met JT he came in the front door of his house, which is so unusual because no one comes in the front door, with his State Park Police uniform and Stetson. I was beyond intimidated. Little did I know at that time what a kind and welcoming person he was. I am grateful for that kindness, and I will be forever thankful for the blessing of his love for my girls. My deepest sympathies to his family, Lila and JT's girls. With love and respect, Tim

How lucky we were to have known John. When he walked into a room with Lila, it would light up. Even though we laughed at his mail-in donations that drove Diane crazy, it just goes to show how generous and kind he was. My children never got to meet their biological grandfathers, so we are so thankful your family shared "Grandpa John" with them. He will be in our hearts forever.
Love the Obriens

When I think back on my days of being in the “First Street Gang” I remember knowing in my heart that hanging out in front of the Kropf home was a safe place. I always felt Mr. Kropf had an eye on us, ready to protect, defend and support us with love and wisdom. What a great Father figure he was for all of us. A man of few words but he always knew how to communicate with us and impart his wisdom on us. We listened! We laughed! We learned!
My heart breaks for you, Peggy, and your family. I pray that the presence of the Holy Spirit fills you all and carries you through this most difficult time.
Thank you Mr. Kropf for you were an amazing servant of Our Lord. May you rest in peace in your true home, Heaven!

First street was a great place to grow up. The kropfs lived on the corner of First street and my parents became fast friends. I always loved going in the house and Mr. Kropf would be sitting at the kitchen table or his chair in the living room reading the paper. We always chatted about sports and he always kept up with my bowling. One of my fondest memories is when he and Mrs. Kropf came to one my tournaments to watch me bowl. It meant so much to me. He was such a nice man, always welcoming. You will be missed. Love and prayers to all of you. Joanne

My Uncle John was really a "Dad". He walked me down the aisle at my wedding, which was MY honor. The awesome memories are infinite. One of my favorites was the annual St. Raphael's bazaar. Uncle John always made sure he won a goldfish for Diane and me! I love you, Uncle John. You are an above-and-beyond extraordinary man! Love, Dee-anna

43 years ago your dad was part of a team that taught me to drive. My mom was not up to the task as my dad had died a few months prior. My team consisted of your dad, Hal, Mr Lee & Rena! Your dad took me in the parkway for the first time and as I was exiting the southern state he very calmly reminded me that I was not driving a getaway car and that I should lightly use my brakes! To this day- when exiting a parkway I still think of that moment & smile. With eternal love & respect Jill
