In October of 1990 I walked into Aegean Islands in Merrick for a waitress position and stayed over 15 years working for the nicest family I've ever come to know, led by their patriarch, Pete. They became my second family as I watched Tina, Maria and Kostas grow up as they did with my son who later worked as a busboy. Because 2020 happened and we were all busy catching up with our lives in 2021, I hadn't visited Santorini in almost 2 years until last Friday when I found out that Peter had passed away. I am deeply sorry and only wish I could've seen and talked to him one more time. I send all my love and prayers to his family who I have come to love very much.

20 years of going to Santorini almost every week. Pete was almost always there to greet me. I'm so sorry for is loss and hope that his wife and the kids will keep their best thoughts of him in their memories. I certainly will. Rest in peace, Pete. You'll be greatly missed.

Pete was the best upstate neighbor ever! Always smiling. He and I shared a love for our mountain. Pete understood the sentiment of our shared borders. No one else truly got it. He loved hearing stories of it's history. We will truly miss this gentleman. Gail and Scott
