Obituary

Nora Ferone was born in Brooklyn NY to parents Rose (D’Ambrosio) and Anthony Serao and grew up in a tight knit Italian community. She graduated high school and began a 35 year career working for Merit Paper in Brooklyn, NY. She married Nicholas J. Ferone and had one child, Janet Ferone, who married Sachi Govindan, and their child, Nick Govindan, was her beloved grandson whom she doted on and showered with love and gifts. Nora and her family moved to their beautiful waterfront home in Bellmore NY in 1968 and she resided there until moving to Hollywood FL full time in 2007. After her husband Nick died, she eventually remarried Frank Locascio and spent only four happy years together before his death in 1997. Nora was a vibrant, active woman who enjoyed travel and spent many summers visiting European countries. She enjoyed cruises with the highlight being the Ferone family cruise to the Caribbean. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, and businesswoman. After her long career at Merit Paper, she became a travel agent at South Shore Travel in Bellmore, NY. After retiring to Florida, Nora had many friends that she spent time with dining out, visiting casinos, and enjoying theater and other cultural events. She was lucky to have her mom with her until two years ago, when Rose passed away at 108 years of age. Four years ago, her health declined due to complications from shingles and Parkinson’s disease and she was well cared for at her beautiful assisted living residence. While she became unable to speak, she was aware of the love of her family and friends through many video calls during the pandemic. Although fully vaccinated, she was diagnosed with Covid and died a week later. She will be missed by her family and friends and we treasure our many wonderful memories
