I went to junior high and high school with Vinnie. Played football and lacrosse for a few years. Has a few classes with him. I was on the team but was basically a scrub. Vinnie always had time for me and made me feel important. He was a leader on the field - a silent warrior. Vince thanks for the lessons in leadership and for your great sense of humor.

My condolences to Vinny's immediate family and extended family. I knew Vinny when I was young, hanging out with the Grottola brothers.
I lost my mother last month to COVID, Sonia Palacio Grottola. It will be difficult during the holidays as time goes by.

Hey Vin, Back in the day when we played a lot of golf together, I’ll never forget your “trees are 90% air” explanation as to why you were hitting a 3wood through 30 yards of trees while trying to reach the green. My favorite part of that memory is hearing you giggle like a kid when it didn’t work… RIP brother….

My condolences to the Grottola family. Many great memories of a quiet but funny guy. Even though Vinny was always the coolest, (Fonzie-cool) guy in the room, and the best athlete in the town, he used his fame modestly. I remember once, our football coach was angry at the entire team and made everybody hit the sleds including “the quarterback”, and I was stunned that Vinnie hit the sled harder than anyone. Vinnie was a warrior & he was my friend. God bless you, Vincent!

We are all still in shock. We are still waiting for you to come in the door for your morning coffee and corn muffin as you did everyday for the past 3 weeks, including that awful day. Our hearts are broken, especially for Taylor, Vincent, Catherine , Gianna, and all of your family. You were one of the most genuine man I knew. A gentle giant, who put everyone else first. Our family will not the same without you. You truly were one of a kind and will never be forgotten.

This is truly very sad news about Vinny’s passing. Tried reconnecting but never got the chance to get together in person and reminisce about the glory days of Rugby Street and of Brentwood NY. He was always a great athlete in those glory days. He also had a great sense of humor and was very clever on and off the field. Gonna miss you Vinny. Gone WAY to soon. RIP and my most sincere condolences to his brothers, his wife and family and all of his friends. We all will remember you in our hearts and minds.

Vinny and I go way back played football lacrosse with him first with BYA. An amazing athlete who I often marveled at his abilities. Although I haven’t seen him in many many years I often think about the good times we had and now this horrible tragedy has made me really think how life is precious. My condolences to the whole family.
