Obituary
George R. Ebling, 90, of Levittown, NY, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. George was born on August 11, 1932, in the Bronx, New York, and was raised in Astoria, New York. Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Carol (née Ferrer). Surviving children are Eileen (Robert †) Bramanti of Islip Terrace, NY, Joe (Debbie) of Mullica Hill, NJ, and Kathy (Rob) Moore of Levittown, NY. George was a proud grandfather to Michele (Ernesto), Melissa (Derick), Kaitlin (Kenny), Ashley (Luke), Taylor and Ryan, as well as nine great grandchildren.
George served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. Corporal Ebling left the Army in 1953, at which time he returned home to New York to be a pressman for New York newspapers, a career that would carry him through the next four decades. He was a proud Army Veteran and was able to find a second home at the American Legion Post 1711 in Levittown, NY, where he was an active member until his passing. He and Carol enjoyed many wonderful friendships, celebrations, and service opportunities through their beloved “Legion”.

Baseball was always a great love for George. From memories of sandlot baseball in Astoria during his youth to watching all 101 wins of the 2022 New York Mets, he was a devoted fan of the game and, sometimes begrudgingly, the New York Mets.
Family was a great source of joy for George. He beamed with pride as he told anyone who would listen about his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. George was a mainstay at family parties. He cherished every moment of birthdays, holidays, and other celebrations. He clinged to technology’s ability to keep his family connected and navigated it with ease. George remained remarkably sharp until the very end. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 2515 N. Jerusalem Rd., East Meadow, NY. A funeral service at the funeral home will begin at 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
Flowers are graciously welcomed. Other donations may be sent to American Legion Post #1711, 3123 Jerusalem Road, Levittown, NY 11756, in George’s memory.
