Joe, Joey, Francis J. ... vibrant, caring and impossible not to notice ... besides keeping his handsome good looks all his life, Joey had a booming voice that burst into laughter and good-natured wisecracks with those he loved most. Generous with advice, it was always practical, based on experience and insightful. You implicitly trusted his suggestions.
Of Joey, my late husband Gil Fagiani used to say, “I ‘m so jealous of that guy because even though Angel must have heard his jokes a thousand times before, she laughs at them like she heard them for the first time … “
Those two not only loved each other, they really liked each other … they bantered like the young people they were when they first got engaged and married… sure there were “tsks” and rolling of eyes and lots of teasing … but always playful …
When he and Angel were newlyweds, they’d spend weekends or vacations at our cottage in Wading River … I have nothing but great, fond memories of what else? Laughter, joking and knowing how to make the most of the moment … a rich display of what was always important … love and a bit of play …
As a kid, I loved trailing after the two of them and neither of them seemed to mind … embraceable, inimtable Joey Franzone will be missed for a very, very long time
