Obituary
JAMES JARONCZYK APRIL 11,1995 - MAY 11, 2023 IN THE SHORT 28 YEARS THAT JAMES WAS HERE WITH US, HE LIVED MORE THAN MOST DO IN AN ENTIRE LIFETIME. ALL THAT KNEW HIM, LOVED HIM. HE LIT UP EVERY ROOM THAT HE ENTERED AND HIS ENERGY, LAUGHTER AND SMILE WAS INFECTIOUS. HIS LOVE AND GENEROSITY WAS UNMATCHED AND HIS HEART BURNED WITH PASSION IN EVERYTHING
HE DID. REGARDLESS OF HOW LONG YOU KNEW HIM, HE IMPACTED YOUR LIFE IN A POSITIVE WAY.
JAMES GREW UP IN MASSAPEQUA, LONG ISLAND MUCH LIKE MOST WORKING CLASS YOUNG BOYS AND GIRLS IN
OUR COMMUNITY. DURING THE SUMMER, HE ENJOYED WEEKENDS ON THE FAMILY BOAT FISHING, CLAMMING AND
CRABBING OR JUST HANGING OUT AND SLEEPING ON THE BOAT AT TOBAY & ZACHS BAY. HE PLAYED P.A.L. BASEBALL
AND SOCCER ON WEEKNIGHTS AND WEEKENDS DURING THE SEASON. HE WENT TO MASSAPEQUA HIGH SCHOOL AND
PLAYED FOOTBALL, WHERE HE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SPIRIT OF TEAM PLAY. AFTER GRADUATING HS, HE ATTENDED
KINGSBOROUGH COLLEGE WHERE HE STUDIED ALL THINGS MARINE, INCLUDING BOAT HANDLING, WHICH WAS HIS PASSION. HE FINANCED HIS EDUCATION BY RUNNING THE TOWN “PUMP OUT BOAT” WHERE HE MADE MANY FRIENDS
WITH SIMILAR, NAUTICAL INTERESTS.
JAMES THEN MOVED ON TO BECOME A PLUMBERS HELPER & WORKING WITH HIS OLDER BROTHER GREGORY, WHO HE ABSOLUTLY ADORED AND MODELED HIS LIFE AFTER. HE WAS CALLED TO JOIN THE PLUMBER'S UNION LOCAL 1, IN NYC, AND WORKED WITH THEM FOR A BRIEF PERIOD. NOT ONE TO SIT ON HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS, HE SHELVED HIS UNION CARD AND BEGAN WORKING FOR JPC PLUMBING WHERE HE WORKED THROUGHOUT NASSAU COUNTY SCHOOLS. ALL ALONG PATIENTLY WAITING TO BE CALLED BY THE FDNY SINCE HE WAS ON THE LIST TO BE A FIRE FIGHTER.
JAMES RECENTLY RECEIVED NOTICE THAT HE WAS TO BE CALLED TO JOIN THE NYC FIRE DEPARTMENT, TO WORK WITH HIS BROTHER AS WAS HIS DREAM.
*
AS ALL OF THIS WAS HAPPENING, JAMES IN HIS SPARE TIME, WAS BUSY STUDYING AND WORKING ON GETTING HIS MASTER PLUMBER'S LICENSE WHICH HE HAD JUST RECEIVED, THIS ALLOWED HIM TO CREATE HIS PLUMBING COMPANY "PIPE PRO PLUS" WHILE ACHIEVING ALL OF THIS HE CONTINUED TO PURSUE HIS PASSION OF BOATS WHICH BEGAN BY- EVENTUALLY MEETING AND GETTING INVOLVED WITH FRIENDS THAT SHARED INTERESTS IN ALL THINGS BOATS AND
BOATING. THIS BEGAN THE JOURNEY THAT LED HIM TO OWNING AND WORKING ON VARIOUS BOATS. HE EVENTUALLY
FOUND HIMSELF TAKING RIDES WITH FRIENDS THAT HAD “GO FAST” BOATS, WHICH WAS NOTHING LIKE THE CENTER
CONSOLE FISHING BOATS THAT HE HAD BEEN USED TO. HE WAS HOOKED! JAMES WAS IN THE RACE BOAT, MIND SET
THAT FED RIGHT INTO HIS ADRENALINE JUNKIE SPIRIT AND DESIRE FOR SPEED.
THEN CAME TEAM PROGRESSION, A TWO BOAT TEAM OF UP AND COMING CLASS 7 CHAMPIONS MADE UP OF JAMES JARONCZYK IN HIS BOAT #711-NAUTI BOYZ AND JOE REILLY, ONE OF JAMES' BEST FRIENDS AND RACE BOAT
MENTOR. JAMES IN HIS NAUTI BOYZ-#711 STARTED GETTING RECOGNIZED WITHIN THE OPA RACING CIRCUIT, AS HE PLACED THIRD, THEN SECOND AND FINALLY FIRST PLACE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. JAMES ACCUMULATED TROPHY AFTER TROPHY AND A REPUTATION AS ONE OF THE BEST WHEELMEN ON THE WATER. HE TOOK FIRST PLACE AND WON “KING OF THE CUT '' TWO TIMES, HE WAS A TWO YEAR UNDEFEATED NORTHEAST NATIONAL CHAMPION, AND REVELED BY ALL OF HIS CLASS7 RACING BROTHERS.
*
I RECENTLY LEARNED FROM HIS OPA FRIENDS THAT JAMES IS THE ONLY CLASS 7 RACER
EVER TO TAKE 1ST PLACE IN THE WORLD NATIONALS DURING THE FIRST FULL SEASON OF HIS CAREER RACING.
OVER THE PAST WEEK, I HAVE GOTTEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH AND HAVE DISCUSSIONS WITH MANY OF
JAMES’ CLOSE FRIENDS AND HIS EXTENDED FAMILY OF BOAT RACING COLLEAGUES, AND THEY ALL HAVE EXPRESSED
THE SAME THOUGHTS OF HOW JAMES WAS SUCH A FIERCE, FEARLESS COMPETITOR, BUT AT THE SAME TIME A LOYAL
AND TRUE, TRUSTED FRIEND THAT WOULD DROP EVERYTHING TO HELP OUT ANYONE THAT NEEDED A HAND. HE WAS ONCE
DESCRIBED ON AIR DURING AN OPA RACE AS A CROSS BETWEEN A PITBULL AND A GOLDEN RETRIEVER.
JAMES WAS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON, WHO LIVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST. HE WAS AN AMAZING SON, BROTHER, UNCLE
AND FRIEND WITH A HEART AS BIG AS THE OCEAN ITSELF AND THE LOVE AND GENEROSITY THAT HE SHARED WITH
EVERYONE HE MET WAS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE. MOST OF ALL, JAMES WAS LOVED BY SO MANY AND EVERYONE THAT
EVER MET HIM WANTED TO BE HIS FRIEND, TO BE NEXT TO HIM, TO RACE WITH HIM, AND TO BE LIKE HIM. HIS LEGACY
FOR ALL OF US THAT WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO KNOW HIM, LOVE HIM AND BE LOVED BY HIM WILL BE THE BEAUTIFUL
MEMORIES OF TIME SPENT WITH HIM AND HIS INFLUENCE UPON US THAT WE WILL ALL CHERISH UNTIL WE MEET HIM
AGAIN.
