William J. Miley, Jr., affectionately known to all his friends as “Bill,” passed away suddenly on October 10, 2023 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Amy Puccini. Devoted father of William (Diana), Jennifer, Bryan, and Nicholas. Cherished grandfather of Stefanie, Madison, Jonathan, Tucker, and Ivy. Loving brother of Robert, Christopher, Thomas, and predeceased by his siblings Kenny and Michael. Dedicated and proud Lieutenant in the NYPD, Bill was a positive mentor for young officers under his supervision. He kept New York City streets safe for many years and worked in some of the toughest housing projects all throughout the boroughs NYC to Fort Apache in the Bronx to Brooklyn’s Brownsville and Crown Heights and Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan. William lived life on his own terms. Bill was a tortured die-hard Giants Fan, praying to God to deliver him a winning team by the end of season. He loved his TV time, whether it was watching Jeopardy and showing off his vast knowledge of the universe or intently watching the news to see who was currently ruining the world and agitating the peace and quiet he coveted. Bill was a man of character and integrity. He had a warm smile and was quick with a joke whenever you needed a pick me up. We will hold him close to our hearts for the rest of our lives. Family will receive friends Friday, 4 pm – 8 pm, at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes, 2515 N. Jerusalem Rd. (Exit 25N SS PKWY) East Meadow, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, 1 pm, at St. Raphael R.C. Church in East Meadow, NY. Cremation Private.
