Obituary
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Colleen Truono: a dedicated mother, sister, aunt and special education teacher, on November 26, 2023 at the age of 56. Colleen had a thirst for life she imparted with love to her family. To say she doted on her beloved daughter, Julia Rose, would be an understatement. Being a mother was the first and most important part of her life. Her face lit up whenever Julia walked in the room. Colleen’s love was universal to all the children in her life, from her step-sons Stephen and Matthew, to her many nieces and nephews. Though she may have been the baby to her siblings Patrick, Ellen and Kevin, Colleen was the glue that tied all of us together. Living a life of service was her foundation. Every day she drew upon an infinite well of patience and understanding that she brought to her career as a Special Education Teacher for the Island Tree’s Middle School in Levittown. Colleen stood tall and proud with a warrior spirit as she battled breast cancer. Her conviction was unwavering. Though she has passed on from this life to the next, she will remain a constant inspiration in our lives and we will follow her example for the rest of ours. We will always remember Colleen fondly for her many expressions, but leave you with our favorite: “Live a little.”
