Obituary

Dehler – Kathleen A. (nee Casserly) of Wantagh, NY on December 2, 2023, at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Joseph A. “Joe Cool.” Devoted mother of Joseph (Debbie), Richard (Beth), Eileen (Rich), Kathleen, Rosemary (Steven) and Maryann. Adored nana of Kathryn (Dirk), Richie (Danielle), Ryan, Joe (KiKi), Jaclyn (Chris), Tyler, Bryan, Sarah and Tommy and great-nana of James, Jack, Maverick, and Katerina. Loving sister of Maryann (the late Donald). Cherished sister-in-law of Larry (the late Elizabeth), Rosemary (Tom), William (Pat), the late Frank (Jean) and the late Irene (Bill), and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Kathleen lived her life by the three “F’s”: Faith, Family, and Friendship. These foundations began with her rich Irish Catholic heritage from County Westmeath. Like most people of her generation, she was proudly born and raised in Brooklyn. It was in Brooklyn, at the age of 16 she met and fell in love with the love of her life, Joseph Dehler. After Joe returned from his service with the Marine Corps, they settled down and started their ever growing family. As a die-hard Islanders and Yankees fan, Kathleen treasured each season and made sure we attended as many games as possible. A pillar of strength, Kathleen guided us through good times and bad, but always kept the faith and we are all thankful to God for blessing us with this inspiring woman. She truly lived a beautiful life. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 pm - 4 pm & 7 pm - 9 pm, at Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes: 603 Wantagh Avenue (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11:15 am at St. Frances De Chantal RC Church. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery. www.osheafuneral.com
