Obituary
Catherine Marlowe, of Wantagh, NY, passed away on February 28,2024 at the age of 89. Catherine was a lifelong educator and the Principal of PS 153 in Maspeth, the same elementary school she attended as a child. Upon retirement, she was elected to the Board of Education for District 24 and also became the Principal of Good Shepard Catholic Academy in Brooklyn. Catherine was also devoted to her Catholic faith, involving herself in both Our Lady of Hope RC church in Queens and St. Frances de Chantal RC church in Wantagh. Catherine participated in Holy Pilgrimages to Medjugorje and helped raise money for medical supplies and a hospital. She was also a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. Above all, Catherine was dedicated to and loved by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph "Buddy" Marlowe. Devoted mother of James Anello (Annette), and Nina Melzer (Eugene). Loving grandmother of James, Jennifer, Alexander, Christina, Kasey, and Lianna. Proud great-grandmother of Owen, Charlotte, and Amelia. Adored sister of the late Thomas Abruzzo ( the late Josephine). Family will receive friends Monday, 3 pm - 7 pm, at the Charles J. O'Shea Funeral Homes, 603 Wantagh Avenue (Exit 28N SS PKWY) Wantagh, NY.
