Obituary
Elizabeth McDonald, known to many as “Liz or Toby,” was born in Manhattan, New York, to loving parents John Ricks (deceased) and Theresa Ricks (deceased) on April 13, 1940.
She met Cecil McDonald in 1966 on the island of Jamaica, and they married on
November 10th, 1967. They lovingly raised three children together: Thomas Davis, Kevin McDonald, and Rochelle McDonald-Gallagher.
Elizabeth lived a life filled with love, compassion, and, of course, laughter. Her kindness and compassion for helping others made huge impacts on many lives. Although on the outside, she stood on business and got the job done, on the inside, she made sure she would help
others to the best of her ability. For those who knew her, she always had a sense of humor like no other and could turn any frown upside down in the blink of an eye.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth exuded love, kindness, and caring. These traits served her well in her nursing career for over 50 years. She was a beacon of light and support for her three children, Thomas “Skip,” Kevin, and Rochelle. She was an avid traveler, visiting many countries in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, as well as numerous states in the U.S. She enjoyed many girls' trips with her sisters. Elizabeth loved to cook for her family or any special occasion. She was dubbed “the fastest cook in the East” by her husband, Cecil.
Elizabeth's absence leaves a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will be treasured, and her legacy will endure through her family and the countless lives she touched.
*
She was predeceased by her siblings Susan Paige, John Ricks, Ann Francis, Theresa Nwosu, and her son Thomas Miles Davis.
Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband, Cecil McDonald, and two children, Kevin Arthur McDonald and Rochelle Antoinette McDonald-Gallagher, Marie Davis (daughter-in-law)
and Scott Gallagher (son-in-law). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Kevin Scott Lynch, Calvin Miles Lynch, Patricia Nicole Davis, Cheyenne Irene McDonald, Alannah Isabella-Sierra McDonald, and William Arthur Gallagher; and two great-grandchildren, Jelani Kelvin Browne and Aura Marie
Lynch, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Even though she is no longer with us, her memory and spirit live on.
