For anyone who hasn't heard, my family has recently lost our beloved Mary Sue. Even at nearly 96 years old, my grandmother had a tremendous network of friends and relatives that she engaged regularly. She was in every sense of the word the matriarch of our family. She was affectionately called, "Gradma Sue" by close friends who were not even blood relatives.
Mary Sue was a depression baby of very modest means, but she taught me one of the most important lessons of my life. She taught me that the size of your wallet does not dictate your entitlement to dignity. She was dignified in every aspect of her life. She always treated others fairly and with respect. She was well spoken, articulate and most importantly she had a wonderful sense of humor. She never tolerated laziness and would directly challenge you for such. (Particularly ME!)
My Grandmother dedicated countless years of her life to the Madden Open Hearts Camp. The camp has always held a special place in my extended family's heart and it seems only fitting. The Moravian Manner and the nurses there cared for my grandmother at a time when we no longer could. In our most difficult period they were there for us.
Please consider making a donation in my grandmother's name. I know that she would smile about that.

You were an amazing woman, my heart breaks that you are no longer with us. You were always up for an adventure, whether it was swinging from a pirate ship, going to the beach, and watching your grandkids go clamming for dinner, or having a glass of wine at the vineyards. You never turned down any fun. The memories I have of you are endless, and I’m truly saddened that there will be no new memories. I hope that you are reunited with grandpa, uncle John, Aunt Pat, and all of your siblings in heaven. You will be missed.
