We regretfully announce the passing of Krystyna Leokadia Sztangret, age 69 of Middle Village, Queens, on October 3rd, after her long battle with cancer. Krystyna was born on November 8th, 1951 to Genowefa and Bronislaw Kudej in Kolbuszowa, Poland. She went on to get her bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Academia Gorniczo-Hutnicza in Krakow, Poland, and followed that with a master’s degree. She met her husband Zbigniew, and they were married in 1982. Together they raised two children, Michael and Erica. Krystyna was a wonderful and loving mother who led by example on how to be a nurturing parent while excelling at her career. She instilled a love of travel and outdoor hobbies in her children and taught them to pursue their passions. After retiring in 2012, Krystyna continued to pursue her favorite passion, traveling with her friends and family to see the world. She will be remembered by those that knew her for her incredible resilience, as she never let cancer be a reason to slow her down. She continued to find joy and happiness in her life throughout her battle and showed us all the true definition of a warrior. Krystyna was predeceased by her father, Bronislaw. She is survived by her two children, Erica and Michael (Becky); her granddaughter, Emily; her husband, Zbigniew; her brother, Ryszard; and her mother, Genowefa. Services will be held at St. Frances de Chantal on Saturday, October 9th at 9:30 AM.
